A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on June 23 as regards the US military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities:
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea strongly denounces the attack on Iran by the US which severely violated the UN Charter with respect for sovereignty and non-interference in others’ internal affairs as the basic principle and norms of other international laws and violently trampled down the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign state.
Opposing the threat and exercise of force detrimental to the territorial integrity and political independence of a country in international relations is the purpose, principle and fundamental spirit of the UN Charter reflecting the general will of the international community.
The present situation in the Middle East, in which the international peace and security are being shaken to their foundation, is an inevitable product brought by the reckless valour of Israel which has promoted its unilateral interests through ceaseless war moves and territorial expansion and by the Western-style free order that has tolerated and encouraged it.
Israel’s and the US’ acts of further aggravating the tension in the Middle East and causing serious negative consequences to the global security structure by using physical strength under the pretext of the so-called "peacekeeping" and "threat removal" are amplifying serious concerns.
The just international community should raise their voice of unanimous denunciation and rejection against the US’ and Israel's confrontational acts.
