“Song of the Ten-point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland” is one of the immortal works created by Comrade Kim Il Sung (April 15, 1912-July 8, 1994) during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
In the early 1930s he put forward a line of forming an anti-Japanese national united front on the basis of the subjective and objective requirements of the Korean revolution and made strenuous efforts to implement it, which resulted in the formation of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland, the first anti-Japanese national united front organization in Korea, in China’s Donggang on May 5, 1936.
The inaugural meeting declared the formation of the ARF before the whole world and elected Kim Il Sung chairman of the ARF according to the unanimous will and desire of the Korean people.
The meeting released a ten-point programme, rules and inaugural declaration.
Afterwards, Kim Il Sung organized and led the efforts to explain in plain words the Juche-oriented revolutionary ideas, lines and policies to the people of all strata and to inspire them to join the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
In those days he wrote the “Song of the Ten-point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland.”
The 10-stanza song gives a succinct and lucid account of each article of the programme that calls for overthrowing the Japanese imperialists’ colonial rule by dint of the concerted efforts of the entire Korean nation, for establishing a genuine people’s government for workers and farmers and for building a prosperous, independent and sovereign nation through an anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution.
The words are so plain and descriptive that they sound familiar and cheerful and fit melody perfectly in such a way as to evoke rich emotions.
The song was well received soon. It struck home the validity of the revolutionary cause to the anti-Japanese guerrillas and people and instilled confidence in victory and revolutionary optimism into them, serving as a powerful ideological means with which to make them turn out for the sacred war of national liberation.
With the 89th anniversary of the formation of the ARF, the song is greatly encouraging the Korean people to make redoubled efforts to build a socialist power united single-mindedly around the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
