Changsong 2.0, a decision-making support program for afforestation developed by the Academy of Forestry Science, is drawing the attention of the relevant people.
The program helps officials and working people of relevant units as well as those in the forestry sector across the country make a prompt and correct decision in afforestation work, said Sim Yong Nam, professor and PhD.
By showing the situation of the forest resources in each province, city and county, the program enables the users to monitor the greenery levels in their regions and take necessary measures in time, he added.
The program also recommends species of trees to be planted in any locality, especially those to be particularly encouraged, and shows appropriate places for each species by grades.
This allows the users to select species suited to the geographical and climatic conditions of their regions to carry out afforestation.
Besides, the program accurately displays the productivity of various species and their growth features such as height, diameter at the chest height, width at the crown and number of trees per hectare.
The program is gaining popularity with each passing day.
