Oneday in November 2016, Kim Jong Un, generalsecretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, visited the Samjiyon Schoolchildren’sPalace.
Thatday he dropped in at the math hobby group room to learn in detail about theoperation of the group.
He toldthe accompanying officials that they should not neglect the work of buildingand operating extracurricular education bases well but properly deliver extracurriculareducation through schoolchildren’s palaces, adding that the education ofyounger generations is a work to which the Party attaches great importance.
The officials could not help but reproach themselves.
Theyhad just left extracurricular education of students to the officials who were responsiblefor it, and had paid little attention to it.
Aftera while, the General Secretary told them that the education sector had now atendency of attaching importance to school education while neglectingextracurricular education, adding that they should not do so.
Receiving his instructions that day, theofficials made a firm determination to direct greater efforts to theextracurricular education so as to train schoolchildren to be competent talentspossessed of versatile knowledge and rich cultural attainments.
