Celebrations of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War were held in Russia.
A grand military parade took place at the Red Square in the capital city of Moscow on the 9th.
The national flag of the Russian Federation and the colours of victory entered the square.
A speech was made by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Marching past the square were the columns of soldiers of all services and arms.
Columns of all arms and equipment and military technical equipment passed by the rostrum and fighters displayed the national flag of Russia in the sky over the square.
After the military parade, there was held a ceremony of laying wreaths at the tomb of unknown soldiers by the Kremlin Castle Wall.
That day also witnessed military parades and other colourful events held in major cities of Russia including St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Volgograd, Murmansk and Vladivostok.
