Six years ago, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , General Secretary of the Workers` Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea(DPRK) paid an official goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from March 1 to 2, 2019.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a warm reception and wholehearted hospitality of the Party, government and people of Vietnam.

Along the hundreds-mile-long route from the first entry point of the private train at the border station to the lodging place in the capital city of Hanoi, many Vietnamese people of various strata lined up, spreading a beautiful sea of flowers of warm welcome.

During his visit, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un had a talk with Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, attended the welcoming banquet and met the leading officials of Vietnamese Party and state.

The summit meeting clarified the firm stand of the two Parties and two governments to carry forward for generations the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries which were forged at the cost of blood, true to the wills of the preceding leaders.

Frank views were exchanged and the historic agreement was reached on making frequent mutual visits of Party and government-level delegations and developing, onto a new higher stage and on a regular basis, the cooperation and exchange in all fields including economy, science and technology, national defense, sports, culture, art, press and media.

During his stay, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and Monument to the Heroic Martyrs. There, he left immortal and touching pictures demonstrating how the noble sense of moral obligation and the feelings between the revolutionaries of the two countries, formed in the common struggle for accomplishing the cause of socialism, are carried on for centuries and generations.

The official goodwill visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was a historic event that opened up a new chapter in the development of the long-standing relations of friendship and cooperation between the two Parties and countries, forged by blood through the struggle to realize shared goals and ideals under the banner of socialism and further strengthened overcoming all the difficulties.

The 75 year-long tradition of the friendly and cooperative Korea-Vietnam relations will further expand and develop this year, the “year of friendship”, thanks to the great attention of the top leaders of both countries, leaving remarkable trace in the chronicle of its development of the bilateral relations.
