The significance of farm machinery, an indispensable element of farming for increasing grain production and reducing the heavy burden of farmers, is now more and more highlighted along with the importance of scientific farming.

The Agricultural Commission has directed efforts to further raising the level of machinery and equipment and increasing their operation rate at farm machine production and repair units.

By late August last year it produced and sent to farms thousands of farm machines and farming tools, including mobile rice combined threshers, mobile maize threshers, wheat and barley sowing machines and three-bladed ploughs.

By synthesizing the opinions of agricultural workers during their visit to the farm machine exhibition Development of the Farm Machine Industry-2023, an important occasion in clearly deciding on the orientation of the development of the country’s farm machine industry, it decided on the kinds and number of farm machines needed for the present and encouraged every province to wage a fierce campaign for increased production to finish last year’s task of producing farm machines before harvesting.

The South Phyongan Provincial Rural Economy Committee made sure that relevant production units in the province overfulfilled their three-bladed plough production plans by 2 percent and produced and supplied hundreds of farm machines of all kinds, including mobile maize threshers.

The Nampho Municipal Rural Economy Committee also carried out the task of producing dozens of farm machines over a month earlier than scheduled.

Farm machinery production and repair units in North Phyongan Province, including the Yomju and Cholsan county farm machine stations and Kwaksan Tractor-drawn Farm Machine Factory, finished the production of hundreds of three-bladed ploughs according to farming processes by the end of May ahead of schedule, thus making it possible to use them in ploughing for the second crop farming. Later they produced hundreds of farm machines and farming tools of all kinds on schedule.

Production units under the South Hamgyong and North Hamgyong provincial rural economy committees also hastened the production of stone assorting machines and produced and supplied hundreds of farm machines of different kinds including mobile rice combined threshers.

Farm machine production and repair units in South Hwanghae Province made tractor trailers efficient in unloading and improved the performance of wheat and barley sowing machines.

The Haeju Farm Machine Factory, Hamhung Tractor-drawn Farm Machine Factory and others completed the task of producing tens of mobile maize threshers while stepping up the modernization projects according to yearly plans.

National exhibitions were staged at the Ryongyon, Ongjin and Anak county farm machine stations and the Haeju Tractor Parts Factory in South Hwanghae Province in November last year with a view to increasing the operation rates of farm machines.
