One day in February 2014 General Secretary Kim Jong Un met with senior officials in the sector of musical art and said that the national musiccreated by the Korean peoplereflects their sentiments, feelings and living customs vividly before earnestlyinstructing that only whenthe national music is encouraged anddeveloped, can the Juchecharacter and national identity be preserved in musical art and the Korean socialist musical art become the true popularmusical art favoured bythe people.
Looking at the officials lost in deep thought,the General Secretary emphasized that toencourage and develop the national music is an important undertaking to safeguard andglorify the noble exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman KimJong Il in the sector of musical art.
That day he specified tasks and ways to encourage anddevelop national music, including the issues of positivelyencouraging and putting forward national music, widely organizing a national music contest and diffusing national music well,further developing national musical instruments to meet modern aesthetictastes, intensifying thestudy of the national music andstrengthening national musiceducation.
The instructions of the General Secretary who wisely indicated the directionand ways to encourage anddevelop the Korean national music,which is associated with thelifetime exploits of the President and theChairman and the soul, mettle and wisdom of the nation, was really a meaningful“lecture” for the officials.
