Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- December 27 is the day when the Socialist Constitution was adopted and promulgated in the DPRK 52 years ago.
On this occasion, the Korean people are recollecting with deep emotion the undying feats of the peerlessly great men who instituted the most revolutionary and popular constitution and successfully completed it as required by the times and the developing revolution.
After promulgating the "Socialist Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" in December 1972, President Kim Il Sung saw to it that laws and regulations of various fields including the Public Health Law, the Law on the Nursing and Upbringing of Children and the Socialist Labour Law were instituted, thus laying a legal foundation for guaranteeing the people's independent life in a systematic and legal way.
Chairman Kim Jong Il made sure that the exploits of the President for original state building were legalized and the laws of the state played the role of a weapon for defending the Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses.
Today, the Socialist Constitution of the DPRK is being further developed and completed under the wise guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un .
The General Secretary indicated important guidelines for strengthening the socialist legal system.
He set forth the idea of building a genuine people's country where law defends the people and the people observe it and made sure that all the laws thoroughly embody the people-first principle.
The work of amending and supplementing the laws and regulations of the state is getting intensified with the people's demand as a standard, further consolidating the legal conditions for an independent and creative life of the people.
In recent years alone, the law of the DPRK on social insurance and social security, the law on emergency anti-epidemic work, the law on land administration planning, the law on tourism and other laws were adopted and the state policy of nuclear force was legalized, thus providing a political and institutional mechanism for firmly guaranteeing the eternal security of the country and its people and the future of lasting significance. -0-
